Shaftesbury
Established in 1920, Rose-Morris Music is a UK company that put out instruments under the name Shaftesbury. Started in 1919 as a toy company called "Rose Brothers" by two brothers, Stanley Rose and Charles Rose had their first foray into the music business selling mouth-organs. In October, 1920, A. V. Morris joined the Rose brothers and the name of the company was changed to Rose, Morris & Co., Ltd., and later shortened to Rose-Morris. Rose-Morris is the manufacturer and importer of guitars (both acoustic and Electric) as well as other instruments. They produced their own Ukuleles in the 30's, as well as Banjo's and Banjo Ukes, drums, etc.
