Tiki Kings Ukulele Lesson, Chords

So now we are going to learn about chords. On the pictures for the chords, you will see dots with numbers, 1, 2, 3, or 4. These dots tell you which fingers go where. your fingers are numbered too, ( but not your thumb! )

First we will learn a "C" chord, because it is probably the easiest. Place your 3rd, or ring finger of your left hand, on the first, or "A" string, just behind the 3rd fret bar, as shown here:

Then strum all four strings, in one motion, from top to bottom, with the pad of the thumb of your right hand. Congratulations! you just made a C chord! If it sounds all buzzy and clunky, loosen up, reposition your fingers, and try again.

Since that was so easy for you, lets crank it up a small notch. Next We will make a "G7" chord. This one is a little more tricky, and takes three fingers. Place your fingers like this:

Now, strum all four strings, in one motion, from top to bottom, with the pad of the thumb of your right hand. And there you go, you just made a G7 chord! Again, if it sounds all buzzy and clunky, loosen up, reposition your fingers, and try again. Great! Now you know 2 chords, Try playing them back and forth a few times. Ok, you are sooooo close to playing a song! just one more little detail...
