Tiki Kings Mulled Wine

makes about 6 servings

1 (750-ml.) bottle red wine
1/2 cup amber rum
1/4 cup spiced honey syrup
1 orange, sliced into rounds, plus more for garnish
1 lemon, sliced into rounds, plus more for garnish
1 green apple, sliced thin
6 whole cloves
3 cinnamon sticks, plus more for garnish
3 star anise

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients (except garnish). Bring to a simmer DO NOT BOIL, then reduce heat to low. Simmer gently over low heat for 10 minutes. Serve warm and garnish each cup with one orange and one lemone slice and a cinnamon stick.
